Document Localization
When we localize manuals, data sheets, and other such materials, we reuse the text segments already translated to minimize localization costs. Simultaneously, we maintain the original characteristics of the text. Using a translation assisted system such as TRADOS or Transit enables efficient reuse of text segments already translated in the past. Systems such as TRADOS and Transit store a significant amount of translated texts in their databases - the translation memory. With the power to store vast amounts of translated texts, we are able to leverage information to translate new documents. The result is that we no longer need to translate documents from the very beginning.
Localization and Translation with TRADOS
With TRADOS, a human translator translates all documents. When we translate a sentence, we save the original sentence and its translation as a database pair. When we encounter the same sentence, we retrieve it from the database. This eliminates the need to translate the same sentence again. When we encounter a similar sentence - a fuzzy match, we refer to the database for the previously translated and stored text. Since TRADOS supports file types with layout information, including FrameMaker and HTML, we are able to translate such files while maintaining the original layout style. This means that the layout work is almost complete when we finish the translation.

TRADOS with MS Word or FrameMaker
Even though we use the latest version of TRADOS, we often encounter problems such as bugs from TRADOS Edition 2 in the translation of MS Word files. In many cases, the translated Word file needs a significant amount of layout work because TRADOS automatically changes the Word layout style. We explain such potential problems to all our clients prior to implementating TRADOS.
In contrast, FrameMaker files are stable because they are converted to TTX files by S-tagger before translation.
Our Unique Localization Process
We reduce translation costs with TRADOS, but it is difficult to know after the layout work which parts of a text have been revised. Due to this uncertainty, most clients have to review the entire document, including parts that do not need to be checked. With our Providence localization process, additional and revised textual parts are highlighted..Such highlighting makes it easy to identify changes, which result in minimizing review costs.
